Capoeira is a life style. It is a product of smartness, born under moonlight, in the dark of night as a result of pressure. Self-defence was a zorunluluk for the Afro-American slaves who had run for their freedom and hide in hide-out cities (Quilombos). They and their ancestors have camouflaged this art with music, dance and songs. Capoeira is the story of a culture, tongue of the streets, and the balancer between people. Hence, Capoeira also changes in order to maintain itself as the life conditions change.

Axé Capoeira group has first been appeared at Recife which resides in northwest Brasil and is one of the world’s oldest and firmest Capoeira organizations. Mestre Barrao started teaching Capoeira to a group of street kids first, and in years Axe Capoeira family has reached about 8000 members with its branches in Canada, USA, Europe, Brasil, South America, Mid America and Carabians. At Capoeira Academy in Santa Cruz, a peaceful and respectful atmosphere in which scholars are given advanced Capoeira content. In lessons students not only learn Capoeira but also about the cultural profile of Brasil. Courses are available to all levels of students without any age, body structure, or gender discrimation.
