Ankara Capoeira Association

Founded in November 2003 by Halit Yalçın, Erce Şenocak and Engin Kılıç, the Ankara Capoeira Association is the first official capoeira organisation in Türkiye. Its founding and full members, who were instructors of the Hacettepe University Capoeira Society, are also the Türkiye representatives of the international Axé Capoeira group led by Mestre Barrão.

The association aims to introduce capoeira in Türkiye, to train capoeiristas who can represent the country abroad, and to bring together everyone curious about this art, men and women, young and old. It currently has representatives in 7 cities and runs classes in 8 districts of Ankara.

The Ankara Capoeira Association organised Türkiye’s first capoeira festival and the first training seminars with a Mestre, turned these events into traditions and has made them bigger every year. Since 2003 it has been invited to many TV programmes, openings, celebrations and festivals, introducing capoeira and adding a different colour to every event it joins.
